Musicians 2007 > Programme 2007 > Press 2007 > Souvenirs 2007 Gaia Chamber Music Festival Hohenstaufen28 September – 30 September 2007Welcome to the Gaia Chamber Music Festival 2007. Created and artistically directed by Gwendolyn Masin and Rahel Maria Rilling, the occasion brings together both internationally renowned artists and rising stars. Hailing from all corners of the globe, seventeen musicians will convene in Hohenstaufen for six days of intensive preparation prior to the festival. Five concerts take place in two unique venues over three days. The focus of the performances will be on string chamber music, including works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvořák, Haydn, Mahler, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schumann, and Strauss. After the success of the first Hohenstaufen Chamber Music Festival in 2006, set in some of the most picturesque natural beauty in the Swabian Jura, a name was devoted to embody the spirit of the festival, one that evoked the image of a continuum containing all things at all times – that which connects the performers at the festival with their audience. Gaia, the Greek goddess who personifies the earth, is at the root of that which Gwendolyn and Rahel wish to convey at this festival – through the international language of music, we are related to each other throughout the world.
