Anke Dill – Violin![]() Anke Dill was born in Stuttgart (Germany). She studied violin with Nora Chastain, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Yair Kless and Donald Weilerstein. As a member of the Barrault Quartet she studied chamber music with Walter Levin (LaSalle Quartet) and members of the Alban Berg, the Cleveland, the Emerson, the Juilliard, the Orion, the American, and the Takacs Quartets. She also took part in the Center for Advanced Quartet Studies of the Aspen Music Festival. The award-winning violinist performs as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, Asia and the United States. Her festival participations include the Schleswig-Holstein Festival, the Brahms Festival, the Salzburger Festspiele, the Aspen Music Festival, the Sewanee Festival, as well as the Chautauqua Music Festival. She appeared in established concert halls such as the Hamburger Musikhalle and the Liederhalle Stuttgart. Her artistic versatility is demonstrated by her varied discography, as well as radio and TV recordings. With Jacob Leuschner she gave several performances of the complete sonatas by Mozart and Beethoven and won the Possehl Music Award in 2000. In addition, she received the Kai-Uwe von Hassel promotion prize from the Hermann-Ehlers-Akademie (Kiel) and the promotion prize of the Lions Club Lübeck Liubice. Anke Dill started her teaching career in 2001 at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. Since 2004 she has been a professor of violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. She also gives masterclasses at the International Summer Academy in Lenk (Switzerland), Bruges (Belgium) and Murrhardt (Germany). |
