Antoaneta Emanuilova – Violoncello

Antoaneta Emanuilova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1980 and began playing piano at the age of five. In 1987 she moved to Stuttgart where she received her first cello lessons from Pilvi Heinonen at the age of ten.

From 1992 to 1996 Antoaneta Emanuilova did her preliminary studies at the Music Conservatory in Stuttgart with Prof. Peter Buck. Three times during this period she was the first prize winner of the German contest “Jugend musiziert” (Youth make music).

From 1996 until she completed her school leaving examination in 1999 she was a student of Wen-Sinn Yang. She attended numerous master classes (among them with Prof. Frans Helmerson, Prof. Boris Pergamenschikow, Prof. Martin Ostertag and Prof. Hans-Christian Schweiker). In addition Antoaneta Emanuilova often performed as a soloist, including with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sofia Soloists and the Sofia Sinfonietta Orchestra.

In 1999 she began her studies with Prof. Wolfgang Boettcher at the Berlin University of the Arts where, in 2001, she was the first prize winner at the Domenico-Gabrielli Cello competition. Since 2002 Antoaneta Emanuilova has been a recipient of a scholarship from the “Villa Musica”.

In 2003/2004 she studied for one year at the Juillard School in New York under Prof. Joel Krosnick and Prof. Bonnie Hampton. There she received her Graduate Degree. In association with this year abroad she was the recipient of a stipend from the ZEIT Foundation of the Deutschen Stiftung Musikleben and the Selbach Foundation.
