Christopher Jepson – Violoncello![]() Christopher Jepson was born in 1982 in Guildford, England, and started to study the cello at the age of ten. Within four years of beginning the cello he had been awarded a scholarship to study with Leonid Gorokhov at the Royal College of Music. Later he continued his studies as a Scholar at the Royal College of Music with Alexander Boyarsky, where he graduated with a 1st Class degree. Christopher then went on to study with Hans Jakob Eschenburg at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik, Berlin. As well as playing Principal cellist in the RCM orchestras, Christopher played as Co-Principal of the Bachakademie Stuttgart Festival Ensemble during 2002/3 playing in the European Music festival and in venues across Germany, and is currently playing in the Berlin Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester. He has participated in masterclasses with Yfrah Neaman, Yehudi Menuhin, David Geringas, and Natalia Gutman. Christopher has performed with the Moscow Virtuosi Ensemble, and given recitals in Spain, Croatia and Great Britain. He recently played the Dvořák Cello Concerto with the Guildford Symphony Orchestra, and Brahms Double Concerto with the Woking Symphony Orchestra. Christopher is currently on trial with both the London Symphony Orchestra and, as Co-Principal cellist, in the Philharmonia Orchestra, London. |
