Gabriel Adorján – Violin

Gabriel Adorján was born in Munich and belongs to the young generation of violinists currently making their mark. He comes from a musical family and received his first violin lessons at the age of four. He began his studies with Ana Chumachenco at the conservatory of his home town, and continued them with Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia from 1993–1995. In 1996, he received an artistic diploma with honours in Munich. He then continued his studies in the master classes of Igor Ozim – first at the Musikuniversität Vienna, and from 1997 at the Bern Conservatory, where he received his soloist diploma, also with honours. Gabriel Adorján has also participated in master classes with Nicolas Chumachenco, Abram Shtern, György Kurtag and Sándor Végh. In 1995 he was invited to participate in the Steans Institute for Young Artists in connection with the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.

As a soloist, Gabriel Adorján has performed at the Musical Winter in Jerusalem, at the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, and with the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Novosibirsk Symphony Orchestra, the Bernese Symphony Orchestra, and the State Philharmonic of Rheinland-Pfalz, among others. In addition, he is a member of the Zurich Piano Trio. His numerous radio and CD recordings attest to his extensive participation in many other chamber music groups as well.

Gabriel Adorján has been awarded prizes in many prestigious international competitions, such as the Leopold Mozart Competition in Augsburg, the Vaclav Huml Competition in Zagreb, the International Competition in Geneva (CIEM), the Rodolphe Lipizer Competition in Gorizia and the Paganini Competition in Genoa as well as the 2001 ARD Competition in Munich.

Gabriel Adorján is currently the first Concertmaster in the orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin, and Concertmaster of the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic.
