Holger Michalski – Double Bass![]() Holger Michalski received his double bass education from Werner Schröder in Kassel, Germany, and from Professor Klaus Trumpf in Berlin. He also attended master classes by Professor Trumpf and Gary Karr in Como, Italy. Early on in his career, his taste for jazz and fusion brought him many opportunities for concerts and recordings with national and international jazz musicians. Since 1983 he has been a member of the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, with which he has given solo performances of double bass concertos by Bottesini, Koussevitzsky, and Rota. Guest engagements with other orchestras have taken Holger Michalski on concert tours throughout Europe and South America. As a chamber musician, he has played with such ensembles as the Viardot Quartet, and with András Schiff in the Cappella Andrea Barca. In 1991, Holger was a prize recipient at the 1st International Double Bass Competition of the International Society of Bassists in Mittenwald, Germany. |
