Hovhannes Baghdasaryan – Violin

Hovhannes Baghdasaryan was born in 1980 in Eriwan (Armenia). From 1996 until 2001 he studied violin with S. Hachnasaryan at the Komitas State Conservatory in Eriwan. Since 2001 he has been studying with Prof. Maria Egelhof at the Music Conservatory in Lübeck. Hovhannes Baghdasaryan has played numerous concerts with various orchestras and chamber orchestras as well as performed solo concerts. From 2000 to 2003 he was a member of the Verbier International Festival Orchestra (Switzerland).

Hovhannes has participated in various master classes, among them with Tibor Varga (Switzerland), the Oberlin Trio (USA), and Vladimir Spivakov (Russia).

Since October 2004 he has had a lectureship in Prof. Egelhof’s class at the Music Conservatory in Lübeck. In the 2004/05 season he was an apprentice in the orchestra of the German Opera in Berlin. He has been an apprentice in the Northern Germany Broadcast (NDR) Orchestra in Hamburg since 2005.

As a member of the Bonnard Trio, Hovhannes has studied chamber music with the Alban Berg Quartet in Cologne since 2006. He receives grants from the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation, the Marie-Luise Imbusch Foundation as well as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). He has won prizes in German and international competitions including third prize at the 8th International Yfrah Neaman Competition in 2001 in Mainz (Germany) as well as a special recognition prize at the International Georg Kulenkampff Competition in Cologne in 2003.
