Wonji Kim – Violin

Wonji Kim, native of Seoul, South Korea, took her first violin lessons with Professor Chong-Suk Li, and from 1989 to 1991 enjoyed private lessons with Professor Max Rostal. Thereafter, she studied in the soloist class of Professor Igor Ozim at the Conservatory in Bern where she received her Soloist Diploma in 1994 with honours.
She also took part in master courses with Donald Weilerstein, Sylvia Rosenberg, and Yfrah Neaman.

Wonji Kim is laureate of several national competitions and was awarded by the Migros-Genossenschaftsbund.
She has appeared as a soloist with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra, the Berner Symphonieorchester, the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedosejev, the Zürcher Kammerorchester conducted by Howard Griffiths, and the Hungarian National Chamber Orchestra.
Furthermore, she performed at the Sándor Veress Festival in Zurich’s Tonhalle, and in Bern’s Casino where the “Tous les Violons du Monde” Festival under the patronage of Sir Yehudi Menuhin took place.

From 1996 to June 2003 she taught as assistant of Professor Igor Ozim at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna and the Hochschule für Musik in Bern.
Since October 2003 she teaches as assistant of Professor Igor Ozim’s Masterclass at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In addition, she has also been entrusted with her own preparative class there since October 2007.
