The church in Blumenstein was constructed in 1285 and consecrated to St. Nicholas. Its benefactor was Johann von Weissenburg, whose crest can be found in the lower section of the church window on the right. The well-preserved, multi-coloured stained glass from the 14th century (the so-called golden age of Königsfeld stained glass), has made the church a famous historical sight.

In 1522 a storm blew the tiles off the roof, causing the vault to collapse. The chapel, however, was rebuilt. During renovations in 1973, remains of a church from the early Middle Ages were discovered.
The church and the rectory are located outside of the town next to an idyllic waterfall above which a castle, inhabited until the 17th century, was enthroned. By the 18th century only ruins thereof remained, and in the interim even those have vanished.
